Our Story

Bohemian roots, bistro warmth, and a revived card room.

Cesstria was imagined as a real-world meeting place where sunlit plates of Czech comfort food share the same table as quiet conversations, clinking glasses, and the soft shuffle of cards. This is the story of how our bistro and poker salon found their home in historic Bohemia.

Chapter I

Our beginnings in historic Bohemia

Cesstria’s story starts in the heart of historic Bohemia, where neighborhood bistros, smoky card rooms, and corner pubs have long been the backdrop to everyday life in the Czech Republic.

Our Beginnings

A house built on bistro tables and card decks.

Before Cesstria had a name, it existed as a feeling: the slow rhythm of late afternoon light on worn timber, the murmur of regulars over mugs of pale lager, and the familiar shuffle of cards at the next table. Our founders grew up inside this rhythm across small Bohemian towns and Prague’s backstreet pubs, where hospitality meant knowing your guests by their first hand, not just their first name.

When the chance came to revive a storied brick-and-stone space in the Czech Republic, they saw more than a lease. They saw an opportunity to fuse three lifelong loves — honest food, crafted drinks, and casual, convivial card games — into one warm, living room for the neighborhood. Cesstria was born from that promise: to stay rooted in Czech pub culture while opening the doors to everyone who wandered past.

The Bohemian Bistro Philosophy

Cesstria is guided by a simple idea: the best bistros don't shout; they hum. Our philosophy is rooted in local ingredients, unhurried meals, and a room that always feels half like a dining room and half like a living room.

We lean into the staples that shaped Czech pub culture — hearty plates, generous pours, and plenty of time between courses — while weaving in modern touches: brighter, lighter dishes alongside classics, thoughtful non-alcoholic options, and a layout that invites families, solo diners, and card enthusiasts to co-exist comfortably.

Above all, we believe in hospitality that feels human, not scripted: genuine greetings at the door, a remembered favorite beer, and a seat that feels like it's been waiting for you.

A physical, offline gathering place

Cesstria is not an online gambling platform. Every meal, drink, and hand of poker happens at real tables, in our real space, in the Czech Republic. To experience our Bohemian bistro and poker salon, you'll need to walk through our door — and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Chapter II

Transforming a brick-and-stone legend

What started as a dark, storied local spot has been carefully opened up into a sun-kissed, airy interior that balances rustic character with eco-conscious design.

Transforming the Space

The renovation of Cesstria was less about erasing history and more about coaxing out the beauty that had been hiding under heavy drapes and darker palettes. The original brick-and-stone bones of the building, aged by stories and cigarette smoke, were lovingly cleaned and celebrated instead of covered.

We introduced rustic timber beams, natural stone accents, and soft, cream-toned walls to reflect daylight deeper into the space. Light oak tables, rounded corners, and linen-textured upholstery soften every edge, while clusters of greenery bring a calm, eco-bistro freshness to the room.

Each design choice is intentionally subtle: enough to feel contemporary and breathable, but never so polished that it loses the charm of a true Czech neighborhood spot. Guests feel the history in the walls, even as they sink into a sunlit banquette or lean in over a fresh pour at the bar.

Chapter III

Meet the founders behind the felt

Cesstria is steered by lifelong food and poker enthusiasts who see hospitality as a craft, not a trend. Their shared vision: a place where diners, neighbors, and card players all feel equally at home.

Meet the Founders

Each founder brings a different chapter of Czech hospitality to the table: years spent running busy dining rooms, curating beer lists for craft-focused pubs, and organizing friendly poker nights that grew into community traditions.

They share a simple conviction: the best venues feel like they were built around the people who use them. At Cesstria, that means menus that embrace both locals' favorites and travelers' curiosity, a bar that happily talks you through each pour, and a poker room where new players are treated with the same warmth as seasoned regulars.

When they're not on the floor, you'll find them tasting new dishes with the kitchen team, adjusting the lighting around the card tables, or sitting at the bar, listening to the room and taking notes on how to make it even better.

Chapter IV

Kitchen, bar & the craft of the table

From the first sizzle in the pan to the final clink of glassware, Cesstria's culinary and bar teams share a single mission: to turn everyday meals and drinks into small, memorable rituals.

Our Kitchen Ethos

Every dish that leaves the pass is an expression of our kitchen's devotion to fresh, seasonal Czech and European cuisine. We work closely with regional suppliers, farmers, and artisans to keep our menu grounded in the flavors of the Czech Republic while allowing room for continental inspiration.

Classic pub favorites share the menu with lighter bistro plates and rotating chef specials. One week might bring a rustic roast with root vegetables; the next, a herb-forward trout or a vegetable-focused plate that celebrates what's best at the market. The goal is never fussiness — just honest, flavorful food served at the pace of conversation.

Brews, Spirits & Craftmanship

The bar at Cesstria is built on respect for Czech beer culture and curiosity for what's next. We pour Czech craft beers alongside time-honored taps, offering both easygoing lagers and characterful seasonal brews.

Our shelves feature a curated selection of wines and award-winning local spirits, from small-batch gins to regional herbal liqueurs. The team revisits the list weekly, introducing new discoveries that pair with chef specials, quieter midweek dinners, and late-night card sessions alike.

Thoughtful non-alcoholic options complete the experience, so everyone at the table can raise a glass, whether they're ordering a crisp pilsner, a pet-nat, or a house-made soda.

Sustainability in Action

Responsible hospitality is woven into how we operate every day, not just into a page on our website.

  • Local sourcing whenever possible to reduce transport and support nearby producers.
  • Upcycled and vintage décor that gives new life to furniture and fixtures with character.
  • Waste-conscious menus that use whole ingredients creatively, from stocks to snacks.

The result is a bistro and poker salon that feels warm, lived-in, and intentionally light on its environmental footprint.

Chapter V

The card room revival

Beyond the clink of glasses and kitchen chatter, there's another heartbeat at Cesstria: the gentle rhythm of cards, chips, and quiet strategy in our Poker Salon.

The Card Room Revival

Cesstria's Poker Salon was designed as an homage to classic Czech card rooms — intimate, softly lit, and endlessly welcoming. Custom wooden tables, padded seats, and warm brass accents create a room that encourages long, comfortable sessions rather than quick, high-stress play.

The focus is firmly on community: friendly games, recurring local tournaments, and a relaxed structure that leaves space for conversation between hands. Regulars and newcomers alike are greeted by hosts who are as happy explaining blinds as they are recommending the next snack to share.

Because Cesstria is a strictly land-based venue, every hand is dealt in person, at real tables, in the company of real people. There are no online games, no remote buy-ins — just a room full of players, stories, and shared rituals.

Chapter VI

Honoring Prague's tradition, writing our own

Cesstria stands on the shoulders of the Czech Republic's rich culinary and gaming heritage, while quietly nudging both into a brighter, more sustainable, and more inclusive future.

Honoring Prague's Tradition

From classic hospodas to historic gaming parlors, Prague and the wider Czech Republic are defined by venues where food, drink, and play intertwine. Cesstria draws on this lineage, echoing details that locals recognize instantly: the comfort of a well-poured lager, the pleasure of lingering over a shared plate, the quiet thrill of a friendly game at the next table.

We honor these traditions not through nostalgia, but through care. Recipes are updated gently, design is lightened without losing soul, and the rhythm of the room remains unhurried, conversational, and unmistakably Bohemian.

The Story Continues

Like any good bistro or card room, Cesstria's story is never finished. It grows with every new guest who pulls out a chair, every deal made across the table, and every friendship sparked over a shared dish.

We invite you to write your own chapter with us — whether that's a quiet weekday lunch, a celebratory dinner, or a night spent learning the ropes of the Poker Salon with friends.
